Jean-Claude Van Damme Action Sequel Lands on Netflix on Christmas Day

Action movie fans now know what Netflix is getting them for Christmas, as the latest movie from martial arts icon Jean-Claude Van Damme is now all set to land on the streaming platform on December 25, 2024. Van Damme, who is, of course, best known for the likes of such action movie fare as Kickboxer, Bloodsport, Street Fighter, Universal Solider, and many more, leads the sequel Kill ‘Em All 2, which finds the “Muscles from Brussels” as a spy who must face off with a terrorist who has come seeking revenge.

As per a report by What’s on Netflix, Kill ‘Em All 2 “will stream on Netflix in the United States as part of the Sony Pictures first window deal for 18 months,” landing on the platform just in time to make the perfect festive family viewing. Picking up seven years after the first Kill ‘Em All, which was released back in 2017, the follow-up is directed by Valeri Milev and written by James Agnew, and stars Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jacqueline Fernandez, Peter Stormare, and María Conchita Alonso. You can check out the official synopsis below.

“Seven years after the events of KILL ‘EM ALL, retired spy Phillip (Jean-Claude Van Damme) and his long-lost daughter, Vanessa, are living peacefully off the grid in Italy. But when their whereabouts are discovered by Vlad, the vengeful brother of their previous target, they must do anything it takes to escape his merciless army. On the run, outnumbered, and fighting for their lives, father and daughter unite to save themselves and the village that Phillip once called home. To defeat Vlad’s men and rescue the innocent lives they’ve endangered, Phillip and Vanessa know the job isn’t done until the last bullet is fired.”

Will ‘Kill ‘Em All 2’ Give Action Movie Fans Everything They Want This Christmas?

When it comes to the movies of Jean-Claude Van Damme, action fans usually know what they’re in store for, with the genre icon often leaning into B-movie trappings. Unfortunately, even these kinds of expectations may be set a little too high for Kill ‘Em All 2. While there aren’t many reviews for the action sequel (critics were no doubt wasting their time watching “good” movies), the ones that are around are not…great. However, Eoin of The Action Elite at least found it to be an improvement on the first Kill ‘Em All outing (which has 21% on the Popcornmeter).

“Saying Kill ‘Em All 2 is better than the first film is hardly great praise, but I actually had a fun time here as (despite the obvious use of body doubles) there is still plenty of action and it’s a brisk watch at around 85 minutes.”

Action icons Jean-Claude Van Damme and Scott Adkins face off in this uber violent action outing.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for Tyler Nichols of JoBlo, who, even as a self-confessed Van Damme fan, found little to love in the action sequel.

“And as much of a JCVD fan as I am, unless the scenes are well-directed, his age is definitely showing. And here he just looks like an old man doing a choreographed exchange with a stuntman. The man can still provide a great performance (as evidenced by Darkness of Man) but in this his action is rather limited. I’m not sure why they made a sequel to Kill ‘Em All, and after watching it, I’m not sure the filmmakers knew why either.”
