It seems that the Winnipeg Jets have ruled out the worst-case scenario when it comes to their No. 1 defenceman.
Head coach Scott Arniel told reporters on Wednesday that Josh Morrissey is feeling better after suffering an injury against the Nashville Predators and he’ll continue receiving treatment.
Arniel added that he could play in Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings.
Morrissey went down in the second period of Tuesday night’s game when he collided with the Winnipeg net. He tried to keep playing, but was eventually ruled out by the team for the third period.
Morrissey is fourth among all NHL defencemen in scoring with 38 points (five goals, 33 assists) in 42 games.
Winnipeg is running short on defencemen. Haydn Fleury, Colin Miller and Dylan Samberg are also out with injuries.
Morrissey, the 29-year-old Calgary native, was picked 13th overall by the Jets in the 2013 NHL Draft.
