Young jockey Ivy Lam has been critically injured after falling from her horse during a race at Gawler on Monday.
Lam, an apprentice jockey from Hong Kong, was riding Jacob’s Gate in Race 7 when the horse broke down around the 700m mark.

The rising star suffered serious head injuries in the fall and was immediately treated by on-course paramedics.
She was then airlifted to Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The final race of the meeting was abandoned following the incident.
Lam has ridden 16 winners from 139 rides since beginning her race riding career in January.
