John Krasinski has admitted he thought he was being “punked” when he discovered he’d been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2024.
The publication crowns a celeb who is setting pulses racing every year, with heartthrobs such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney and John Legend among the previous winners. And this year The Office star Krasinski took the title, taking over from 2023 winner Patrick Dempsey.
Reacting to his win in a video interview with People, Krasinski confessed it was a little unexpected.
“Just immediate blackout, so the brain just turned off actually,” said the Jack Ryan star. “Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I’m being punked.
“After that it was just a false reality. That’s not how I wake up, usually, thinking, ‘Is this the day that I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys really raised the bar for me.”

Krasinski, 45, said his actress wife Emily Blunt was “very excited” that he had been chosen for the honor.
“There was a lot of joy involved,” he said. “But I do think it’s going to make me do more household chores but I am willing to take the cons with the pros to be honest with you. I think after the cover comes out she’ll be like, ‘All right, that means you’re going to really earn it here at home.'”
He also quipped that the decision would puzzle his brothers and would probably be a big talking point at Thanksgiving. He joked that they would probably “wonder how this is possible” for years.

There has been a mixed response from fans after People announced the 2024 winner.
After the publication shared the news on Instagram, some fans posted messages in the comments section saying Krasinski was a great choice. “Yasssssssss,” said one, dropping a string of fire emojis.
“Sexiness!” commented another. “Funny is very sexy,” agreed another fan. Someone else remarked: “John Krasinski is very sexy. Good choice People!!”
But others offered up the names of the stars they would have liked to see win, with Top Gun: Maverick actor Glen Powell coming up a lot. “How is it not Glen Powell…” one posted, as another person asked: “WHEN GLEN POWELL EXISTS?!”
Krasinski is known for playing Jim Halpert in The Office from 2005 to 2013 and starred as Jack Ryan in the Amazon Prime series. He and Blunt have been married since 2010 and they share two daughters—Hazel, 10, and eight-year-old Violet.
