Josh Brolin rumored for Hal Jordan role in Lanterns

Like Thanos collecting Infinity Stones, Josh Brolin aims to add another superhero role to his resume.

New rumors have swirled that the actor will join HBO’s upcoming DCU series, Lanterns. HBO or DC Studios co-chair James Gunn has not confirmed the rumors.

Per Nexus Point News, Brolin is being tapped for veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan. The actor has played several superhero roles before, including Thanos in the MCU and Cable in Deadpool 2. He’s also starred in a DC film, the critical and commercial bomb Jonah Hex.

Damon Lindelof will be in charge of the series alongside Chris Mundy and DC comic author Tom King. Little is known about the series, but Lanterns is considered a “huge HBO-quality event.”

The writer’s room names reportedly include Justin Britt-Gibson (Into The Badlands), Breannah Gibson (Young Love), and Vanessa Baden Kelly (Animal Kingdom).

As for other Lanterns showing up, we already know Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner is in talks for a role. He’ll debut the role in Gunn’s upcoming film Superman.

And you can’t do this two-hander space cop drama without John Stewart, the younger Lantern that Hal Jordan will take under his wing in the series. It’s reported that casting “is also underway for a Black actor between 27-35 years old.”

There’s no timetable for the production, so stay tuned to see who will play the titular Lanterns.
