Josh Hart hasn’t quite yet gotten acclimated with the Knicks’ latest first-round pick.
On the “Roommates Show” podcast that he co-hosts with Jalen Brunson and Matt Hillman, Hart was talking about the NBA Draft and he struggled to pronounce Pacome Dadiet’s name.
“With the 25th pick, we got Paco-me Da-deet? Da-diet? Da-diet,” Hart said.
Hillman responded, “It’s like when you eat healthy. You know, you’re on da diet.”
Hart smiled and said, “Yeah, exactly, da diet. Like now I’m on da diet.”
Brunson chimed in and pronounced it as it would be in French: “OK, Pacome Dadiet. Next.”
Dadiet, an 18-year-old from France, told reporters after the draft that he wants to model his game after Kevin Durant.
“I think I’m really versatile and can also bring what a rookie needs to bring — energy,” Dadiet said. “Coming in and grabbing rebounds to push the ball and also knock down shots. I think it’s very important for a rookie to bring those things.”
Dadiet had worked out with the Knicks before the draft, but wasn’t sure if they would pick him.
“The workout went well,” Dadiet said. “So I knew they were interested. But until the last minute, I didn’t know where I was going. I’m very excited to start working. I can’t wait.”
ESPN basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla was a big fan of the Knicks’ pick.
“This was a great pick up for the Knicks,” he tweeted after the draft. “If you are a Westchester Knicks fan, buy your tickets now because he will spend time there, but love his long-term upside.”
