Jude Bellingham was involved in a heated altercation with the referee during Real Madrid’s clash with Espanyol on Saturday night. 

Carlo Ancelotti’s men came from behind to claim a 4-1 victory at the Bernabeu, with Bellingham among the booked players. 

The 21-year-old was shown a yellow moments before he was substituted with seven minutes remaining and was a frustrated figure as he delivered an X-rated rant. 

Bellingham was left frustrated after the referee had stopped a potential Real counter to issue a booking and he was seen saying ‘you are a piece of s***’. 

Real, despite their dominance, had fallen behind after 54 minutes after Thibaut Courtois diverted Jofre Carreras’ cross into his own net.

But they quickly got on level terms four minutes later when Bellingham’s low cross sneaked below Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia’s arms, allowing Dani Carvajal to tap the ball home. 

Vinicius Jnr then made an impact off the bench as he set up a goal by Rodrygo before extending Real Madrid’s lead to 3-1 when he scored in the 78th minute. 

The Brazilian was also booked for dissent against the referee.

Summer signing Kylian Mbappe sealed the win for Real from the penalty spot for his fourth goal in six LaLiga matches after Endrick was brought down in the area. 

Real are now a point behind leaders Barcelona, who travel to Villarreal on Sunday evening and hope to make it six wins out of six.

Ancelotti’s side will seek to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they host Alaves on Tuesday night.
