After seeing Bronny James get drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers this year to play alongside his legendary father LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan found the moment inspiring.
“It was fire, just to know that he started it and now I got a chance to get to where he’s at in the league, that’s fire,” Anthony said during an appearance on 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony & The Kid Mero (1:15:00 mark). “I texted him and everything, we were on the phone like that’s really fire. Especially him playing with his pops, that’s crazy, that’s so crazy to me.”
Kiyan Anthony is entering his senior year at Long Island Lutheran High School and is rated a 4-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite. He announced over the weekend that his top six schools are Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers, USC and Carmelo’s alma mater Syracuse.
Kiyan added that he looks forward to meeting Bronny on the court once again, as the NBA rookie got the better of him when they faced off in high school.
“We can play against each other like we played against each other in high school. I was only a freshman or a sophomore, he was a senior,” he said. “Now that we can get to the league and play against each other, it’s crazy to just think about.”
