Who is in the Karate Kid: Legends poster?

The poster provides fans with a first look at American Born Chinese star Ben Wang, who has been tapped to become the newest face of the Karate Kid franchise. He will be following in the footsteps of former Karate Kid leads Ralph Macchio, Hilary Swank, and Jaden Smith. Joining Wang in the poster are Macchio and Jackie Chan, who are set to reprise their respective roles as Daniel LaRusso from the original Karate Kid trilogy, and Mr. Han from the 2010 reboot.

Sony’s Karate Kid movie is directed by The End of the F***ing World’s Jonathan Entwistle from a screenplay written by Rob Lieber, with Karen Rosenfelt set as a producer. The story will reportedly take place on the East Coast, focusing on a teenager from China. Additional cast members include franchise newcomers Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Sadie Stanley, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff, and Jennifer-Lyn Christie. It is executive produced by Macchio and Jenny Hinkey.

Created by Robert Mark Kamen, the iconic franchise started with the 1984 film The Karate Kid, which earned legendary actor Pat Morita an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Mr. Miyagi. Due to its commercial and critical success, it spawned two more sequels starring Macchio’s Daniel Larusso, as well as the 1994 spin-off The Next Karate Kid starring Swank’s Julie. In 2010, Harald Zwart directed a stand-alone Karate Kid sequel, which took place in China with Chan and Smith leading the cast. At the moment, the franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of over $675 million at the box office.
