Lewis Orford agrees new five-year West Ham contract

West Ham United midfielder Lewis Orford has agreed a new five-year contract.

The 18-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire in June 2025.

Orford is a highly-rated prospect and was part of West Ham’s pre-season tour of Florida for games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace.

In July, Aston Villa rejected West Ham’s £30million ($38.6m) bid plus Orford for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran. The Premier League side previously attempted to sign Orford in June, but West Ham turned down their approach.

Orford registered five goals and five assists across 29 appearances for the under-21s last season. The midfielder was part of the FA Youth Cup winning side in 2023.

Orford was included in West Ham matchday squads 10 times last season, with four of them in the Premier League, and hopes to impress new head coach Julen Lopetegui.

“The goal has always been to play for West Ham,” he said. “I’ve grown a lot physically recently and I’m ready for the first team.”
