‘Loki’ Season 2 Deleted Scene Teases Major Marvel Moments

A new deleted scene from Loki Season 2 reveals that the God of Mischief had a few run-ins with some major Marvel heroes and villains audiences have never seen. It has been over a year since the hit series released its second season, putting Loki (Tom Hiddleston) on the throne at the end of time. Disney is set to release Loki Season 2 on 4K Blu-Ray on Dec. 2, 2024, just in time for the holiday season as the perfect gift for that Marvel or Tom Hiddleston fan in their life. With the release comes some deleted scenes, too: one that — if included — could have teased some major implications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an exclusive clip revealed to Variety, Loki recalls how many people “said I was a problem” while talking with his friend Mobius (Owen Wilson). Loki name-drops Amora, a reference to the Thor villain Enchantress. He also mentions Absorbing Man, who previously appeared on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (played by actor Brain Patrick Wade). The last name he mentions is Hercules, who Loki describes as, “another big guy. I was a big problem for him.” Hercules made his MCU debut in Thor: Love and Thunder‘s post-credit scene, played by Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein.

The Deleted Scene Would Have Changed the MCU

Loki also mentions a few other familiar MCU names. He name-drops a few Earth-based characters, including Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings), and Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård). Loki mentions his past Asgardian connections, too — including his biological father Laufey (Colm Feore), Odin’s father Bor (Tony Curran), Volstagg (Ray Stevenson), Hogan (Tadanobu Asano), and Fandral (Josh Dallas in Thor and Zachary Levi in subsequent appearances), and Heimdall (Idris Elba) twice. He even mentions “Donald Blake, who Thor pretends to be when he goes to Earth.”

Loki’s mention of The Enchantress, Absorbing Man, and Hercules could have had significant implications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe had the scene been included. The Enchantress is one of the biggest Thor villains who has yet to appear in the MCU — although elements of her character were incorporated into the Loki variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). Meanwhile, The Enchantress’ sister, Lorelei, did appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., played by Elena Satine. With connections to Lorelei and Absorbing Man, Loki Season 2 could have firmly established Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as part of the MCU’s sacred timeline.

The conclusion of the Multiverse Saga will feature the big names, including the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and the Avengers.

Meanwhile, the Hercules mention would have been the first reference to the character since his Thor: Love and Thunder tease. Fans are awaiting Hercules’ next on-screen appearance, but there are currently no confirmed plans for him to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hercules feels like one of many teases Marvel has set up with no plans to pay off. Had the deleted scene remained, Loki could have been the direct link between Thor and Hercules when the two gods eventually clashed.
