As we wrap up 2024, we now know that one of the biggest surprises of the year, in the best possible way, was “Longlegs.” It’s a film that will likely stand the test of time and continue to be used as an example of what to do in a proper modern horror. And because of its success, it’s not at all shocking that NEON would like to stay in the Maika Monroe business.

According to Deadline, Maika Monroe is now attached to star in the NEON project, “Brides,” the latest film from director Chloe Okuno. The film stars Monroe as Sally, a woman who goes on a trip to a remote Italian villa with her husband. However, while there, the owner of the villa takes a peculiar interest in Sally.

In addition to “Longlegs,” Monroe has starred in recent films like “God is a Bullet,” “Significant Other,” and “Watcher.” She’s probably best known for starring in the horror film, “It Follows.” She’s also slated to appear in that film’s sequel, “They Follow.”

This isn’t the first time Maika Monroe and Chloe Okuno have worked together on a film. The duo previously worked on “Watcher,” which is the feature debut for Okuno. She also directed a segment of the popular horror anthology, “V/H/S/94.”
“Brides” is expected to begin production in March, which means it’s likely going to be set up as a late-2025/early-2026 feature.
