The lightweight bout between Liam Wilson and Youssef Dib was almost thrown into chaos on Tuesday, with the latter failing to make weight.
Dib – the younger brother of former world champion Billy – tipped the scales at 61.62kg, which was almost 500 grams above the lightweight limit.
“No chance – my scale was 10kg calibrated to the tee,” he said.
“I jumped on and I was 61.24 so I don’t know what’s going on here.”
His brother was up on stage when the drama unfolded and was just as confused as Youssef – but their Aussie rival was having none of it.
“We are professionals – go lose the weight,” Wilson said.
The former world title contender was prompted further on his comments by Main Event commentator Ben Damon and gave a similarly blunt reply.
“There’s professional and then there’s that,” Wilson said.
Dib would eventually make weight for the fight, but it certainly has added fuel to the fire for Wilson, who is looking to bounce back from a loss to Oscar Valdez in March.
