Man dies after boats collide on Sydney Harbour

A man has died after a boating incident in Sydney Harbour, police said in a statement.

Emergency services were called to New Beach Road in Darling Point around 6.30pm after reports that two boats had collided.

Police say a man, believed to be in his 50s, had sustained a severe chest injury and died at the scene. He was yet to be formally identified.

Mandatory testing was conducted on both skippers and both boats were seized for mechanical inspection.

A report will be prepared for the coroner
