Marvel Admits There’s a Street Fighter Hero Strong Enough to Take On Thanos

Marvel just revealed one Street Fighter character who can go toe-to-toe with Thanos, as the world of Marvel vs. Capcom steps onto the comic book page. None other than Akuma is powerful enough to stand his ground against the Mad Titan, and their battle threatens to tear apart the whole of reality.

Coming from the creative team of Christos Gage and Alberto Jiménez Alburquerque, the 32-page comic comes bundled in with physical copies of the recently released Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Edition.

Thanos and Akuma in Marvel vs Capcom

The story features Doctor Doom and M. Bison teaming up to take over both the Marvel and Capcom universes, but neither villain entirely trusts the other. As such, both keep a hidden card up their sleeves. M. Bison uses his “Psycho Power” to control the powerful martial arts master Akuma, while Doctor Doom manipulates Thanos by promising him a universe to destroy.

The New Comic Answers This Essential Question…

Comic book page: Marvel vs Capcom Thanos fights Akuma while Doom summons a portal

Doom and M. Bison wind up playing their trump cards when the heroes of the Marvel and Capcom universes team-up to fight them, but it soon becomes apparent that Akuma and Thanos are far too powerful. On their own, the heroes are unable to do anything against the devastating opponents, as Akuma makes short work of Wolverine and Thanos wipes out several heroes at once. Faced with the prospect of a battle between Akuma and Thanos leaving everything in their wake a pile of smoking wreckage, the heroes must find a way to stop their colossal fight before it begins.

How Powerful Doctor Doom Is, Compared To Thanos

Doctor Doom is one of the most formidable Marvel villains of all time, and the same will likely be true in the MCU (even compared to Thanos).

Realizing that they have to do something before reality as they know it crumbles, Doom and M. Bison decide to team with the heroes to stop Akuma and Thanos before their battle gets out of hand. Communicating with all the players psychically, Psylocke assembles a plan to deal with the über-baddies of both universes. All the heroes wind up channeling their powers through Doctor Doom, who opens a portal and sends Akuma and Thanos through right as their epic battle begins. It’s eventually revealed that the two big bads were sent to a pocket universe where there are no living beings.

Akuma and Thanos’ Battle Threatens to Tear Two Universes Apart

An Essential Crossover for Fans of Both Franchises

By sending Akuma and Thanos to battle in a pocket universe, the heroes of Marvel and Capcom wind up saving their respective universes without having to face either big bad in a straight fight. It’s a shame that readers don’t get to see how their epic battle plays out, as Ryu hints that Akuma and Thanos’ brawl could potentially go on forever. It feels like the perfect set-up for a longer story-line, one that could potentially fill an entire miniseries. Now that the games are readily available on consoles again, hopefully there will be more Marvel vs. Capcom to see who wins between Thanos and Street Figher’s Akuma.
