MPs return to the House of Commons today after their summer recess, and many of them will still be getting to grips with how it all works.

The general election returned a record 335 new MPs, meaning more than half of the chamber’s members are new to parliament – and its strange traditions of bobbing and speaker’s prayers.

Helen Pidd meets three new Labour MPs – Peter Prinsley, Abtisam Mohamed and Josh Dean – as they tackle their new jobs, and leave their old lives behind.
