Mike Tyson doesn’t recall a lot of what happened during his fight with Jake Paul in November.
“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out,” he said during an interview on Fox Sports Radio’s Covino and Rich (via Charlotte Daly of the Daily Mail). “I haven’t watched the fight back.
“You know what I remember… coming back from the first round and Jake was doing some sort of bow… that’s the last thing I remember.”
This perhaps explains what transpired in the ring at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Tyson landed just 18 total punches to 78 for Paul, who won by unanimous decision. Nobody expected to see a prime version of Tyson given his age (58), but his lack of offense was surprising, to say the least.
The fan outcry was such that Most Valuable Promotions felt the need to issue a statement saying the whole thing wasn’t rigged.
Fortunately for Tyson, the checks still cleared regardless of how he performed. The former heavyweight champion reportedly made around $20 million for eight rounds of work.
