The 2024 Platinum Glove Awards were handed out on Friday night, honoring the top defensive player in each league during the regular season.
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh secured the award in the American League, while Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang earned the honor in the National League.
All 10 Gold Glove winners in each league were eligible for the Platinum Glove, which was determined by a fan vote.
Team Gold Glove Awards were presented to the Toronto Blue Jays and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Raleigh became the second AL catcher to win the award since it was introduced in 2011. He also represents the only Mariners player to earn a Platinum Glove. Raleigh led all AL catchers with 17 defensive runs saved.
He also caught 20 runners attempting to steal second base, tied with Alejandro Kirk of the Blue Jays and the Oakland Athletics’ Shea Langeliers for the AL lead.
As for Turang, he led all NL infielders with 22 defensive runs saved. Similar to Raleigh, he became the first Milwaukee player to win a Platinum Glove.
Turang and Brewers right fielder Sal Frelick previously earned Gold Glove honors, becoming the team’s first pair of winners in the same year since 1979.
