Monster Parents in Animated Adventure ‘Spellbound’ Official Trailer

“We’re going to make it – together.” Netflix & Skydance Animation have revealed the first official trailer for an animated adventure called Spellbound, made by filmmaker Vicky Jenson (who also co-directed Shrek and Shark Tale years ago). This big family movie musical is set to arrive in November before Thanksgiving. Every kid has trouble getting along with their parents sometimes, but this is ridiculous. Ha ha, funny. In Spellbound, Ellian (voiced by Rachel Zegler) squares off with her mother and father, the king and queen of Lumbria. But this isn’t any typical family drama — a mysterious spell has transformed her parents into massive, rampaging monsters. She goes on a quest to find out how to save her parents and maybe the entire kingdom. The voice cast also includes John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Nathan Lane, Tituss Burgess, with Javier Bardem & Nicole Kidman. With songs written by musical legend Alan Menken & Glenn Slater. This looks good, the parental monsters is an intriguing concept to play around with. Worth a watch.

Spellbound follows the adventures of Ellian, the tenacious young daughter of the rulers of Lumbria who must go on a daring quest to save her family and kingdom after a mysterious spell transforms her parents into monsters. Spellbound also features an original score from EGOT-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast) with lyrics written by Glenn Slater (Tangled). Spellbound is directed by American story artist / filmmaker Vicky Jenson, a co-director on Shrek and Shark Tale, plus director of the movie Post Grad previously, and episodes of the series “Firsts” & “Our Own Devices” most recently. The screenplay is written by Lauren Hynek & Elizabeth Martin and Julia Miranda. It’s produced by John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, & Bruce Anderson; and made by Skydance Animation. Netflix will release Jenson’s Spellbound movie streaming on Netflix worldwide starting on November 22nd, 2024 this fall. Any good?
