“This don’t guy is not fighting for God & Country, he’s fighting for family…” Warner Bros Ent. has revealed an official trailer for an action thriller crime movie called Gunner, which is the (last) name of the guy and not a reference to a “gunner”, though in this case both are the same. Despite starring Morgan Freeman, this is actually a direct-to-video title heading straight to VOD in August. The latest action film from the creator of The Fast and the Furious which follows Ray Miller as he tries to save his sons, Luke and Travis, from a dangerous drug gang. “They messed with the wrong guy.” With no one but himself to retaliate, an enraged Gunner wreaks havoc to rescue his sons after stirring up trouble with a drug operation. This stars Luke Hemsworth & Morgan Freeman, with Barry Jay Minoff, Grant Feely, Connor DeWolfe, Joseph Baena, Sean Rogers, Gary Wood, Mykel Shannon Jenkins, Yulia Klass, and Maurice P. Kerry. This look so bad and cliche. I’m sad that Freeman ended up in a junk movie like this. How did that happen?
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Dimitri Logothetis’ Gunner, direct from YouTube:
War veteran Colonel Lee Gunner (Luke Hemsworth) takes his two sons on a camping trip with their Uncle Jon, to reconnect with them after being at the front for so long. The trip goes awry when Jon stumbles over a tripwire and sets off an explosion, alerting a gang of violent bikers in the midst of a massive drug operation. Not anticipating Gunner’s elite combat skills, the gang members are taken out one by one. The boys try to go for help, but end up right in the arms of Dobbs, the son of the gang’s kingpin Kendric Ryker, who runs the whole organization from in prison. With no one but himself to turn to, an enraged Gunner wreaks havoc to rescue his two sons, until he gets to the top and confronts Ryker. Gunner is directed by Greek-American producer / filmmaker Dimitri Logothetis, of the movies Pretty Smart, Slaughterhouse Rock, Champions Forever, The Closer, Body Shot, Hungry for You, Cheyenne, The Lost Angel, Momo: The Sam Giancana Story, Kickboxer: Retaliation, Jiu Jitsu previously. The screenplay is co-written by Dimitri Logothetis and Gary Scott Thompson. Produced by Joel Shapiro and Dimitri Logothetis. WB will release the Gunner movie direct-to-VOD to watch at home starting August 16th, 2024 this summer. Anyone into it?
