Roger Federer might have hung up his racquet, but that doesn’t stop his wife, Mirka Federer, from making surprise appearances at his favorite venue. It was clear that the magic of Wimbledon, a place where Roger etched his name in tennis history, still held a special place in her heart. The 46-year-old former tennis player recently graced Centre Court with her presence, sparking a wave of excitement among fans.
Mirka Federer, the wife of the tennis great Roger Federer and a former player herself was spotted by the TV cameras on Wednesday evening. She was seen taking in the all-Italian clash between world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and 2021 runner-up Matteo Berrettini. She flashed up on the screen early in the second set and was seen engaging in a chat with one of her twin daughters in a trademark ‘RF’ cap.
Initially, the commentators Tim Henman and Andrew Cotter seemed to be in some dilemma over her presence, but eventually, they confirmed as the cameras captured Mirka yet again. She was spotted watching the match with her twin daughters Myla and Charlene and twin sons Leo and Lenny. But what couldn’t be controlled was the delight of the fans.
As soon as the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Wimbledon posted a video of Mirka in the stands, fans joined in to express their happiness over seeing her returning to the grass courts. Ultimately, the focus shifted from Jannik Sinner’s victory over Matteo Berrettini 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-4 ) 2-6 7-6 (7-4) in the match, to Mirka Federer’s presence at the venue.
‘Where is king?’ Fans fail to control excitement over Mirka Federer’s appearance at Wimbledon
As soon as the video of Mirka attending the match at Wimbledon went viral, X users started pouring in their delightful reactions. Taking to the microblogging platform, one user wrote, “She just said wants to see some good f*cking tennis.” This was because Mirka was seen chatting with her daughter in the sets. Besides, it reflects the impact that the absence of Roger Federer on the court and his remarkable skills have left on fans who desire to witness some masterclass yet again, like that of the Swiss Maestro.

Another user welcomed Mirka and remarked her as the ‘first lady.’ “Welcome back First Lady of Wimbledon 💖” Usually the term is used to address the wife or the female partner of a leader of a jurisdiction. But, who could be better than Mirka to be addressed this way? After all, the magnanimous record of her husband, of winning 8 titles at the grass-court grand slam truly makes him a leader of the venue. The series of reactions did not just end here.
Reflecting their delight, another user claimed that Mirka missed watching tennis. “mother missed tennis,” the user wrote. Mirka Federer was often spotted in the stands stressful, watching her husband play. However, with the retirement of Federer in 2022, it is evident that she misses following her routine. Another user reflected on the legendary status of Mirka and said, “Mother blessing us today.” For tennis fans, Mirka is as important as the Swiss Maestro himself given the role she has played in his life, and even Roger has resonated with similar sentiments.
After winning the 2017 Australian Open, Federer attributed his success to Mirka’s support. “She’s been there when I had no titles, and she’s still here 89 titles later, so she had a big part to play in [the win],” he said after the final. Meanwhile, users could not stop themselves from questioning about the king himself.
Taking to Twitter, another user wrote, “omg queen! now where is king?” According to The Times correspondent, Roger is in London and is expected to be at the All England Club tomorrow – on the day Andy Murray will team up with brother Jamie in the men’s doubles. The tennis legend played his last match in 2021 but has made visits in 2022 as well as 2023 to the venue.
