MotoGP: Marc Marquez wins on home soil after Francesco Bagnaia crashes out

Marc Marquez ended a three-year barren run by winning his first MotoGP race since 2021 in Aragon, Spain.

The six-time MotoGP champion’s last victory came in Emilia-Romagna more than 1,000 days ago.

The Spaniard capitalised on a collision between his brother, Alex, and championship hopeful Francesco Bagnaia on Turn 12 in Aragon.

The crash took both riders out of the race and Marquez’s victory eventually came in comfortable fashion, beating runner-up Jorge Martin by almost five seconds with Pedro Acosta in third.

Marquez, who celebrated his win with a victory lap and an impromptu dance in front of his supporters, moved third in the championship standings.

He trails Martin by 70 points, while double champion Bagnaia is now 23 points behind in second.
