MrBeast breaks silence on former co-host Ava Kris Tyson’s grooming allegations

YouTube star MrBeast has broken his silence on the allegations of grooming a minor against his former co-host, Ava Kris Tyson.

Tyson, 28, this week announced that she’s quitting the popular channel after she was accused of sending inappropriate messages to a then-13-year-old when she was 20.

In turn, MrBeast — whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson — said that he will no longer be working with Tyson, and revealed that he has hired a third party to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.

“Over the last few days, I’ve become aware of the serious allegations of Ava Tyson’s behavior online and I am disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts,” he wrote on X Wednesday night.

The video streamer told his 30 million followers that he has hired an independent third party to investigate further so that he has “all the facts.”

“That said, I’ve seen enough online and taken immediate action to remove Ava from the company, my channel, and any association with MrBeast,” he continued. “I do not condone or support any of the inappropriate actions.”

“I will allow the independent investigators the necessary time to conduct a comprehensive investigation and will take any further actions based on their findings,” he added.

His comments came just one day after Tyson addressed the allegations on X Tuesday.

“I would like to apologize for any of my past behavior or comments if it hurt or offended anyone,” Tyson began her statement. “It was not my intent.”

“Seeing recent events we’ve mutually decided it’s best I permanently step away from all things MrBeast and social media to focus on my family and mental health,” she added.

Tyson was accused of grooming a young fan, who is known online as Lava, in a 45-minute video posted online in June by the account Prism42, according to Rolling Stone.

The video claimed Tyson sent a Snapchat message to the then-minor of her face with the text, “C–ming for America.”

However, Lava, now 20, denied the allegations on Monday.

In follow-up tweets, Tyson said, “I want to add, I never groomed anyone. The person who gets brought up in these accusations,” who uses the handle @LavaGS on X and goes by Lava, “has vocally supported that they are false.”

Lava wrote, “Ava never did anything wrong and just made a few edgy jokes. I was never exploited or taken advantage of.”

Tyson has appeared alongside MrBeast, 26, on his YouTube channel since 2012. The channel has since amassed over 300 million subscribers, making it the most popular channel on the platform.

Last year, Tyson came out as a transgender woman and later underwent gender-affirming hormone replacement therapy — resulting in transphobic attacks against her online.

She co-parents her 4-year-old son, Tucker, with her ex-wife Katie. The former couple separated in 2022.
