“I didn’t like being a persona.” Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for Avicii – I’m Tim, a music biopic documentary about the iconic techno musician known as Avicii. You’ve definitely heard his songs! They’re massive hits everywhere! Club bangers and mega summer anthems. “Before Avicii, there was Tim.” Through his own words, witness how a prodigious musical talent became one of the defining artists of his generation. Avicii – I’m Tim delves into the life and legacy of Tim Bergling, the Swedish DJ and music producer known as Avicii. The film presents a look into his life, featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews, with Tim as the narrator. In addition to the documentary, Netflix will also premiere Avicii – My Last Show (about ~30 minutes long) on December 31st, offering fans a chance to relive his final performance from Ibiza’s Ushuaïa in 2016. Tim passed away in 2018 at the young age of 28 by suicide after years spent touring the world. Yet another tragic tale of fame & fortune being overwhelming for a musician and taking its toll. Such a sad story.

“Before Avicii, there was Tim.” This is the unlikely story of Tim Bergling – a shy and insecure boy who, without realizing it, suddenly created one of the world’s most loved artists – Avicii. Through unique home movies and a huge private archive, we get to follow Tim on a winding journey through life – from the very first breath at the maternity ward in Stockholm in 1989 to the tragic end in Oman in 2018. This is a film where Tim himself is the narrator and he shares his inner self in a way we haven’t heard before. Through himself and everyone close to him – family, artist colleagues and best friends – we get to know Tim – the actual boy behind Avicii – for the very first time. Avicii – I’m Tim is directed by Swedish music filmmaker Henrik Burman, also director of the music film Yung Lean: In My Head previously and other short films / music videos. Produced by Björn Tjärnberg. Made by Candamo Film. Netflix will release the Avicii – I’m Tim doc streaming on Netflix worldwide starting December 31st, 2024 at the end of this year. Who’s in?
