It would appear that Nikyatu Jusu is set to become a major player in the realm of horror filmmaking. After her directorial debut, the acclaimed “Nanny,” Jusu has lined up a series of exciting projects currently in development. And her newest one, “The Fly,” might be her most intriguing yet.

According to Deadline, Nikyatu Jusu has signed on to write and direct a new take on “The Fly.” Plot details are scarce, but the report claims that Jusu’s new ‘Fly’ will exist in the same universe as David Cronenberg’s original and won’t be a straight remake.
For those who haven’t seen the original (which is also a remake), “The Fly” follows the story of scientist Seth Brundle, who is working on a teleportation experiment. However, things get wild when his DNA is merged with that of a fly, causing a physical and psychological change. It’s one of the best examples of body horror ever put to film.

As mentioned above, “The Fly” is just one of Jusu’s upcoming horror offerings. She’s also signed on to direct a sequel to “Night of the Living Dead.” Apparently, she is unafraid of tackling sequels to classic horror. She is also developing a vampire film that is an original idea based on a short film she worked on previously.
Obviously, it’s still far too early to know when we might expect any of these projects. But if her version of “The Fly” is as good as “Nanny,” then we’re looking at Jusu becoming one of the premier names in genre filmmaking.
