The NRL Bunker has come under scrutiny yet again after a no try call was labelled “complete rubbish”.
In the 60th minute of Manly’s win over the Cowboys, winger Jason Saab was involved in a contentious call that almost led to him securing a double hat-trick.
Saab and Cowboys winger Murray Taulagi both went for the ball off a cross kick and it came loose before Saab scored.

However, referee Todd Smith sent it to the Bunker as no try, ruling Saab had tackled him in the air.
Replays seemed to suggest Saab had his eyes on the ball, however he managed to have hold of Taulagi’s arms as he fell down and the ball came lose.
The Bunker ruled Saab tackled Taulagi in the air, which brought fury from league legend Greg Alexander.

“That’s rubbish, he does not, that is complete rubbish, he does not tackle him, he makes contact with him … if you’re going for the ball how can you not collide with the player?,” he said on Fox League.
The score at the time was 18-18, but it didn’t end up costing the Sea Eagles with Daly Cherry-Evans kicking home the winning field goal in golden point.
