MANILA, Philippines — More candidates have contested the Commission on Elections (Comelec) decision to declare them as a “nuisance.”
Comelec chairman George Erwin Garcia said that as of Friday, 17 senatorial aspirants have filed a motion for reconsideration (MR) to defy the poll body’s declaration.
Two additional senatorial aspirants—Manuel Lim Andrada and Elpidia Rosero Rosales Jr.—filed their MRs to contest the decision of two Comelec divisions.
The other aspirants who filed their MRs are the following: Francis Leo Marcos, Felipe Fernandez Montealto Jr., Orlando Caranto De Guzman, Jaime Gaspacho Balmas, Pedro Gonzales Ordiales, John Rafael Campang Escobar, Roberto Sontosidad Sembrano, Romulo Tindoc San Ramon, Fernando Fabian Diaz, Luther Gascon Meniano, Romeo Castro Macaraeg, Subair Guinthum Mustapha, Berteni Cataluña Causing, and Alexander Cura Encarnacion.

Garcia said it is now up to the Comelec en banc to decide on the nuisance candidate cases of these six aspirants.

If the en banc still junked their petition, the political aspirants could elevate their case to the Supreme Court.
It can be recalled that 183 filed their certificate of candidacies to formalize their Senate bid.
Of which, 117 other candidates were declared as nuisance while only 66 of them were included in the Comelec’s final ballot, whose printing should commence by December.
