“A fascinating study of grief and redemption.” A trailer is out for a UK indie film titled Reawakening, the latest from writer / filmmaker Virginia Gilbert. It first premiered at the 2024 Dublin Film Festival earlier this year, and it will open first in UK cinemas starting in September this fall. Reawakening is the powerful, psychologically piercing and searingly emotional second feature from BAFTA-nominated writer / director Virginia Gilbert. John and Mary have lived in an agonizing limbo of grief and guilt for the past ten years. Their only child, Clare, ran away from home when she was fourteen and no trace of her whereabouts has ever been found… When Clare suddenly returns, now at age 24, Mary is overjoyed. However, John comes to believe Clare is not who she claims to be. As old tensions resurface, a gripping search for the truth unfolds. Starring Jared Harris, Juliet Stevenson, and Erin Doherty. Reawakening is written and directed by British writer / filmmaker Virginia Gilbert, making her second feature film after directing A Long Way from Home, plus a few other short films. Produced by Barry Castagnola and Virginia Gilbert. This initially premiered at the 2024 Dublin Film Festival earlier this year. Gilbert’s Reawakening film will debut in UK + Ireland cinemas starting on September 13th, 2024 this fall. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned. Anyone interested?
