MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Wednesday that more than 7.4 million voter applications were processed as the voter registration ended last September 30.
In a data released to the media, 7,436,555 applications were recorded as of September 30. Of this figure, 3,805,587 applications came from females while 3,630,968 came from male voter applicants.

Region IV-A Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) logged the highest number of voter registrations among all regions with 1,223,159 applicants. It was followed by the National Capital Region with 997,062 applicants, and Region III with 834,467 applicants.

Comelec said that they tallied a total of 233,330 voter applicants on the last day of voter registration. However, the poll body’s regional office in Batanes stopped the voter registration on Monday due to inclement weather brought by Typhoon Julian.
The voter registration for Batanes was then extended until Tuesday, October 1.
Comelec chair George Garcia in a message to the media said that the final number of new registered voters will be released after the Electoral Registration Board’s hearing on October 13. The applications are subject to approval or disapproval by the board.
Meanwhile, around 5.37 million voters have already been deactivated while around 700,000 people were deleted from the national list of voters.
Such deactivation stems from imprisonment, commitment of any crime, declaration of incompetence, failure to vote in two consecutive elections, loss of Filipino citizenship, court order exclusion, and failure to validate.
In addition, the deletion of voters from the national list of voters may be due to registration cancellation due to death, transfer to another city or municipality, double registration, double entries, or application for overseas absentee voting.
