AppleTV+’s Peabody-winning drama Pachinko returns Aug. 23, and its first trailer will surely have you misty-eyed.
Season 2 picks up the story of Sunja (Minha Kim and Yuh-Jung Youn) and her family in two different timelines: Osaka in 1945, and Tokyo in 1989.
In 1945, Sunja must make difficult decisions to ensure her and her children’s survival during World War II. As the trailer shows, a reunion with Koh Hansu (Lee Minho), the father of her first child, is also in the cards.
Meanwhile, in 1989, Sunja’s grandson Solomon (Jin Ha) is trying to fight his way back into the cutthroat business world he left behind in Season 1.
The trailer weaves both stories together with the help of a “Viva La Vida” cover by BLACKPINK’s Rosé, which Apple said in a press release would also be used in the Season 2 finale.
Pachinko Season 2 premieres Aug. 23 on AppleTV+, with new episodes every Friday.
