Packers QB Jordan Love Suffers MCL Sprain, Expected To Miss Significant Time

Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love is expected to miss some time after suffering an injury against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night. Luckily for Green Bay, he is not expected to miss the rest of the season.

He suffered an injury to his MCL but avoided any problems with his ACL. This is the best news for the Packers considering how the injury took place.

Love exited the game on Friday after an Eagles defender rolled up on his lower leg. He was down on the field for a few minutes before he was able to walk off with a limp.

The Packers lost the game by a score of 34-29 but the team was more concerned with the health of Love. There was a fear that he tore his ACL so this news is encouraging to say the least.

It remains unknown how long Love will be out for but for the injury to fully heal, it will likely be a significant amount of time. Green Bay will likely be cautious with their young signal-caller as he is the face of the franchise for the foreseeable future.

Love emerged as one of the better young quarterbacks in the NFL last season. He threw for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He led the Packers to the postseason and helped them upset the Dallas Cowboys on the road with an incredible performance. Love threw for 272 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions to help Green Bay advance in the postseason.

After his hot end to the 2023 season, the Packers rewarded Love with a massive contract extension this offseason. The deal was for four years and $220 million, tying the two sides together for the next few seasons.

Before he went down on Friday against the Eagles, Love did all he could to help get the Packers a win. He threw for 260 yards, with two touchdowns, and one interception.

Green Bay will now go forward with former third-round draft pick Malik Willis as the starter. Willis threw one incomplete pass and was sacked to end the game against Philadelphia.

He will now be tasked with leading this Green Bay team until Love can return. The Packers were picked by many to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl but with Love out for some time, that path just got even tougher than it already was going to be.
