Potter flies high on debut, Kellaway, bench eviscerated as side cops FIFTEEN fails

The Wallabies’ hopes of a Grand Slam crashed and burned brutally on a cold day at Murrayfield, going down 27-13 to an impressive Scotland.

The home side showed why they are one of the most slept-on sides in international rugby, putting together a strong performance to derail the progress shown by Joe Schmidt’s men – with the disappointing results reflected in the votes by The Roar‘s audience this week.

After picking up one fail mark against Wales the week before, the Wallabies’ decline saw the side cop FIFTEEN fails, with only one player picking up an average higher than 6 and only five players picking up a most common rating of 6.

At the top of the pile was, once again, Rob Valetini, with the John Eales medalist picking up an average of 6.10 and a most common rating of 6.

Despite the disappointing results overall, there were several bright sparks for the Wallabies, with silver going to the debutant, Harry Potter (5.86) while Will Skelton (5.85) took bronze – both finishing with a most common rating of 6.

At the other end, however, it was grim reading for Andrew Kellaway. Being forced to slot into the centres, his exposure saw him scored harshly by readers, with an average of 3.94 and a most common rating of 4, the only player to have a rating lower than 5.

Even more so, the bench didn’t fare much better as Scotland pulled away in the second half, with reserve props Isaac Kailea (4.09) and Zane Nonggorr (4.13) rounding out the bottom three. It was a grim afternoon overall for the replacements, with six of the eight players picking up fail marks.
