Thursday from 5-11 p.m., Empower House Radio holds its Empower Palooza at the Brick at Blue Star, with performances by Tommy Starchild, Anel Flores, Mera Mera and more. Proceeds support the community radio station 101.5 FM.
If you missed the Toro Flores Quintet at Jazz’SAlive, head to the Japanese Tea Garden at 6:30 p.m. Friday for a jazzy evening sponsored by the San Antonio Parks Foundation, with a $5 suggested donation.
On Saturday, check out the Masa Collective’s BOO-tique Art Market pumpkin painting contest. Bring your pumpkins and your spooky art skills to Make Ready Market, where they’ll have painting supplies on hand. The festive market runs 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the contest happens around 7:45 p.m.
Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival takes over St. Paul Square on Saturday, with art installations, music, dance and acrobatics from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., the Southtown 101 bar hosts the Low & Slow car show. Rad cars, dope vendors and the soulful sounds of the Suprimos are promised.
Also Sunday, The BexarBrass band plays a free outdoor concert at Beautify San Antonio Park in the King William neighborhood at 5:30 p.m.
And on Tuesday, artist Amalia Mesa-Bains unveils an ofrenda honoring local labor hero Emma Tenayuca in the great hall of the San Antonio Museum of Art, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Don’t forget, museum admission is free on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. for Bexar County residents.
