Queensland teens to face court after police officer injured in alleged hit-run

Two teenagers will face a Queensland court today on multiple charges after a police officer was hospitalised following an alleged hit-run in Bundaberg yesterday.
Police were checking an abandoned stolen vehicle near Cullen Street in Walkervale about 4pm when a silver Subaru Forester drove by.

The driver allegedly drove at a police officer after he attempted to intercept the car, leaving him with minor foot and chest injuries.

He was taken to Bundaberg Base Hospital, where he has since been discharged.

A 19-year-old Branyan woman has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to comply with duties of a driver involved in a crash and possession of a drug utensil.

She is due to appear before the Bundaberg Magistrates Court today.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 16-year-old Kalkie boy, has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company and wilful damage.

He is due to appear before the Bundaberg Children’s Court today.

Investigations remain ongoing.
