“Filmed over a year.” Meet the people of Liverpool. 🇬🇧 Shut Out The Light Films has unveiled the official trailer for a documentary film called Liverpool Story, arriving in UK cinemas this month. No US release but UK cinephiles might want to keep an eye out for this. “Liverpool takes centre stage in this year-in-the-life documentary portrait. An observation of a city and its people over the passing seasons.” Liverpool is a cathedral city, port city, and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England – it became a major port city in the 17th century as a borough in Lancashire. Director Daniel Draper explains: “Liverpool’s become a go-to destination for productions – easily disguised as London, New York, Moscow or even Gotham City. Given this, I thought it was time to make Liverpool the leading lady of her own movie. I spent a year walking and filming the streets of the place I call home, documenting how a city operates over a single year… making a film about humans; the importance of community, fragile memories and the passing of time.” Sounds good.

From the filmmakers behind Almost Liverpool 8 comes Liverpool Story. Finding beauty in the ordinary, Liverpool takes centre stage in this year-in-the-life documentary portrait. Communities and voices are observed from a fresh perspective as the city navigates through an eventful year. Mirroring the ebb and flow of the River Mersey, Liverpool Story is an intimate document of daily life; observing the city and its people over the passing seasons. Liverpool Story is directed by the Liverpool-based doc filmmaker Daniel Draper, director of the films Nature of the Beast, The Big Meeting, Almost Liverpool 8, and Manifesto previously. Produced by Christie Allanson and Daniel Draper. This is premiering soon at an event in the city at the Liverpool Philharmonic this month. Shut Out The Light Films will also debut Liverpool Story in UK cinemas starting on November 21st, 2024 this fall. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned. Look good?
