The nominations won’t be announced till January 9, but the Art Directors Guild has found a host for its 29th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards. Actress Rachael Harris will command the stage for the February 15 ceremony at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown.
“I am honored to host the ADG Awards this year,” Harris said in a statement. “Production designers and their teams are the unsung heroes of film and television, creating the worlds we inhabit on screen. Their artistry and craftsmanship inspire me and I’m delighted to celebrate their incredible work.”
Harris most recently starred in Season 1 of Disney+’s “Goosebumps,” but you’ve seen her in everything from “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” to “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Modern Family,” “Suits,” “Happy Endings,” and as a series regular on “Lucifer.” Harris’ film credits include “The Hangover,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” trilogy, “Best in Show,” and “Natural Selection.”
Additionally, the ADG Awards — which celebrate excellence in production design across theatrical motion pictures, television, commercials, music videos, and animated feature films — will present the 2025 Cinematic Imagery Award to Jason Reitman (“Juno,” “Saturday Night”) and Lifetime Achievement Awards to Lisa Frazza, Barbara Mesney, Dan Sweetman, and J. Dennis Washington. Legendary production designer Carl Jules Weyl will be inducted into the ADG Hall of Fame.
This year’s buzzy film titles include five that IndieWire’s Bill Desowitz has deemed Oscar frontrunners: “Dune: Part Two,” “Emilia Pérez,” “Gladiator II,” “Nosferatu,” and “Wicked.” Unlike the Oscars, however, the ADG Awards are split between contemporary, animated, period, and fantasy films. Last year’s winners included “Poor Things,” “Oppenheimer,” “Saltburn,” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”
The 2024 TV winners for one-hour period, fantasy, and contemporary were “The Great,” “The Last of Us,” and “Succession.” Movie or limited series went to “Beef,” and the half-hour series winner was “Reservation Dogs.”
Nominations for the 29th Annual ADG Awards will be announced January 9; the ceremony will take place February 15. For more information, visit adg.org.
