Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn | Breaking world rankings released, Australian number one in the world, World Dancesport Federation rankings

She may have copped a hammering from critics for her routine at the Paris Olympics but Raygun is now officially the world’s best breaker.

Aussie Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn sits atop the new world rankings released by the World DanceSport Federation despite failing to win her way through the first round at the Paris Games.

So how did she get number one?

According to the New York Post, the results of the performances in Paris were not taken into account for the world rankings.

Raygun’s performance at the WDSF Oceania Championship scored her 1000 points in the world rankings, while also punching her ticket to Paris.

Five other competitions prior to the Olympics also contributed to her rapid climb in the rankings.

Raygun was not even the only Australian to find herself inside the top 10 b-girls in the world, according to the rankings, with Molly ‘Holy Molly’ Chapman, Hannah Belet, and Geraldina ‘G-Celf’ Hnitko all featuring in the rarefied positions.

In a comical twist, none of the three medallists in Paris were listed among the top 10.

Speaking on Channel 10’s The Project, Raygun said her breakdancing record backs her as Australia’s best break dancer, although she made no claim to be the best in the world.

“I was the top-ranked Australian B-girl in 2020 and 2022 and 2023,” she said.

“I have been invited to represent at how many World Championships… So, the record is there, but anything can happen in a battle.

“People didn’t understand breaking and were just angry about my performance.”
