Rams’ Cooper Kupp to miss ‘extended period of time’ with ankle injury

Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp will miss an “extended period of time” after suffering a left ankle injury in the team’s 41-10 Week 2 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, coach Sean McVay said Monday.

Kupp, 31, suffered the injury in the second quarter and was later ruled out for the remainder of the game. The Super Bowl LVI MVP caught four passes for 37 yards in the loss. Kupp exited State Farm Stadium with a walking boot on his left lower leg/foot.

The Rams are now without these starters for multiple weeks: Kupp, receiver Puka Nacua, cornerback Darious Williams, left guard/center Jonah Jackson, left guard/center Steve Avila, backup swing tackle Joe Noteboom, safety John Johnson III. Right guard Kevin Dotson is playing through a foot injury.

In his 12 games last regular season, Kupp hauled in 59 receptions for 737 yards and five touchdowns. Los Angeles fell to 0-2 with the loss and will host the San Francisco 49ers, who fell to 1-1 with a loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, in a Week 3 matchup from SoFi Stadium at 1:25 p.m. PT.
