Rangers’ Adolis Garcia will compete in Home Run Derby in front of Texas crowd

Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia will be competing in this month’s Home Run Derby in the comfort of his home stadium.

The July 15th event at Globe Life Field will feature some of the game’s most powerful swingers, with Garcia rounding out a field featuring Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt Jr., Alec Bohm, Jose Ramirez, Marcell Ozuna and Pete Alonso.

This will be Garcia’s second career Home Run Derby appearance after blasting 17 balls into the seats, but falling short, to Randy Arozarena in the first round of the 2023 event.

Garcia has 17 home runs to his name throughout the 2024 season and is just one year removed from sending a career-high 39 balls to the bleachers.

His eight home runs helped propel the Rangers to a World Series title last fall and was the most of any player to step into the batter’s box during that post-season. Garcia would also pick up the ALCS MVP award after posting 15 RBIs in seven games against the Houston Astros.

Despite being more familiar with the dimensions of the Rangers’ ballpark, Garcia may still not be the favourite to take the 2024 title, with most of his home runs this season coming on the road rather than at Globe Life Field.

Garcia is playing in his sixth MLB season, five of which coming in the Lonestar state. He has 114 career home runs in the regular season.
