Quickley was held out of Monday’s win against the Golden State Warriors due to left hip soreness, but the injury designation has since been updated.
According to head coach Darko Rajakovic prior to the victory, the injury had been nagging the 25-year-old for a while and flared up Monday morning, hence his absence.
The news comes as the latest setback in an injury-riddled campaign for Quickely. After signing a five-year, $175-million deal with the Raptors in the off-season, the lead guard has suited up just nine times.
Quickley battled a thumb strain that made him miss all of training camp and the preseason, played just 14 minutes in Toronto’s season-opener before leaving and missing eight games due to a bruised pelvis, and then lasted all of two games before a partial elbow tear cost him 22 straight games.
The former 25th overall pick in 2020 played in six games since returning from that UCL injury prior to missing Monday’s victory that snapped a five-game skid for the Raptors.
Through his nine games played, Quickley is averaging 16.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game while shooting 37.6 per cent from the field and 33.3 per cent from three-point range.
While Quickley’s status remains unclear, the Raptors return to action on Wednesday to take on the defending champion Boston Celtics in Toronto.
