Republic Pictures has nabbed U.S. and Canadian rights to “Adulthood,” directed by Alex Winter and penned by novelist Michael M.B. Galvin.
Described as darkly comic and modern-noir, “Adulthood” follows sister and brother Megan and Noah who are barely hanging on in present-day America. When they discover a dead body, long buried in their parents’ basement, the siblings are pulled back to the hometown they ran away from and into a rabbit hole of crime and murder.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Republic Pictures for the North American sales and release of our film,” said Winter. “They have great instincts and are dedicated to quality indie movies.”
The cast includes Josh Gad (“Gutenberg! The Musical!”), Kaya Scodelario (“The Gentlemen”), Billie Lourd (Booksmart), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”) and Winter, best known for the long-running hit “Bill & Ted” franchise, including 2020’s “Bill & Ted Face the Music.”
Winter likewise serves as producer along with Scott Kroopf (“Limitless”), Russell Hollander (“Flight Risk”) and Lisa Wolofsky (“Tow”).
Also producing are Michael Cho and Tim Lee of Olive Hill Media, and Danny Roberts, H.S. Naji and Jackie Langelier of Fresh Fish Films. Olive Hill Media and Fresh Fish Films financed the pic.
Serving as executive producers are Connie Tavel (“Confess, Fletch”); Mimi Rode for Olive Hill Media; and Thorsten Schumacher of Rocket Science, which is arranging finance for international sales.
