Leonardo Bonucci and Sami Khedira rushed to the aid of Ian Wright – after the Arsenal legend suffered a fall following the draw for the women’s Euros, Mail Sport understands.

The 61-year-old, who had a knee operation seven weeks ago, had anchored the draw for next year’s tournament at the Swiss Tech Convention Centre in Lausanne.

Straight after Monday night’s show, he is understood to have slipped down steps in an incident which startled concerned onlookers and saw the Italian and German stars race to assist.

Medics gave the Gunners ace an ice pack and he is understood to be well and in good spirits, but thankful for the help of his fellow former internationals.

This morning, Wright flew to Manchester as planned.

It emerged that striker underwent knee replacement surgery earlier this year after he arrived at an episode of the Stick to Football podcast in a wheelchair, which saw fellow pundit and ex-Manchester United captain Roy Keane wheel him in, with former Lioness Jill Scott joking that the pair resembled a sketch from Little Britain.

Some of those present at the event were surprised at how Wright, a well-known advocate for the women’s game, was on his feet for, given the relatively short time since his operation.

At the draw England, the reigning champions, were picked to face France, Wales and Netherlands at the tournament, which will take place in Switzerland.
