Robert Pattinson Joins Cast of Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie

The cast of Christopher Nolan‘s next movie continues to get even bigger, with THR reporting that Robert Pattinson is set to star in the highly anticipated next project from the Oppenheimer director.

Pattinson — who also starred in Nolan’s 2020 film Tenet — will join a cast that’s already shaping up to be an all-star ensemble. Previously, it was announced that Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Anne Hathaway would all also star in the upcoming project, which remains shrouded in mystery.

Aside from his work with Nolan in Tenet, Pattinson took up the mantle of Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman franchise, with a sequel planned to release in 2026. Up next, he’ll star in Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi black comedy Mickey 17, which releases on April 18, 2025.

Pattinson is also set to star in the dark comedy horror Die, My Love, alongside Jennifer Lawrence and LaKeith Stanfield, as well as Kristoffer Borgli’s next film The Drama, an upcoming romance film that will also feature Zendaya, Mamoudou Athie, and Alana Haim.

Pattinson will join “core lead” of the upcoming movie

While it’s unknown exactly what Pattinson’s role in the movie will be, THR notes that he, Damon, Holland, and Hathaway will make up “the core leads” of the movie. Lupita Nyong’o and Zendaya, both of whom were recently reported to be in the project, will have supporting roles in some degree.

Nolan’s next, still untitled movie will be released in United States theaters on July 17, 2026, from Universal Pictures.

While Nolan hasn’t commented on what his next movie may be about, the latest prominent theory suggests it may involve aerial helicopter cops, one of whom is older and one of whom is younger. It has also been reported that Nolan’s movie will utilize a never-before-used IMAX technology.
