Moments after the New Orleans Saints announced that wide receiver Rashid Shaheed would be placed on IR, it was reported that the star would now miss the rest of the 2024 season.

Shaheed and his doctors opted to go with a full meniscus repair instead of a trim, which heightened his recovery time from a potential few weeks to a four to six-month timeline.

According to Ian Rapoport, “Saints WR Rashid Shaheed underwent meniscus surgery today, source said, the doctors opted for the full repair over the trim. That means he’s out for the season and faces a multi-month recovery. Shaheed should be ready for next season.”

Though the hope was that Shaheed would be ready to return towards the end of the season, he will now begin recovery to come back in 2025. This is devastating news for what could have been a career year for the star receiver.
