The Wicked movie, which stars pop star Ariana Grande and actress Cynthia Erivo, is being marketed with a line of limited-edition Mattel dolls also available in Australia.
One shopper in the US noticed a movie link printed on the back of some boxes doesn’t send fans to a website dedicated to the film as intended.
Instead, it sends people to a pornographic site.
“The official Mattel Wicked dolls link to a porn site on the box,” an X user who noticed the error said, sharing a video pointing to the link.
Mattel had intended to send users to WickedMovie.com, not the website printed on the impacted boxes.

The Mattel dolls are available in Australia through Kmart for $49 apiece.
It is unclear if the misprint is on the packaging of Wicked dolls sold in Kmart in Australia.
9news.com.au has contacted Kmart for comment.
Mattel released a statement yesterday apologising for the error.
“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the statement read.
“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children.
“Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel customer service for further information.”
