Skeleton Crew’s At Achrann Explained

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 4.Star Wars: Skeleton Crew just introduced audiences to another new planet, but highlights what was really wrong with the Jedi and Sith. Even though the crew still haven’t found their homeworld, Skeleton Crew episode 4 continues to build the mystery that surrounds At Attin, and why it’s so hidden from others in the galaxy. While a few questions have been answered, new ones surrounding At Attin’s connection to other planets have emerged – particularly that of the planet where the newest episode of Skeleton Crew takes place.

Skeleton Crew episode 4 sees the newest crew aboard the Onyx Cinder arriving on the planet At Achrann, which they originally believe to be their home planet, At Attin. While At Achrann originally looks like Wim, Fern, KB, and Neel’s home planet, it is quickly apparent that while there are similarities between the two planets, they still haven’t found their way home. What, then, is At Achrann, and how does it factor into the overall mystery and story of Skeleton Crew?

In Skeleton Crew episode 3, while visiting Kh’ymm, the owl-like creature reveals that At Attin was the last hidden “Jewels of the Old Republic,” but this episode shows that At Achrann is another one of these other nine worlds. Kh’ymm states that At Attin was hidden for its own protection because it was a planet of wonder. While the other eight planets would go on to be destroyed, At Attin went on to become part of children’s fairy tales and a legend no one thought was real.

Since Lucasfilm debuted the trailer for Skeleton Crew, it’s helpful to know who is in Disney’s latest Star Wars show – & who their characters are.

After Skeleton Crew episode 4, audiences now know what the current state is on both At Attin and At Achrann. Despite this, it’s unknown what the state of the other seven planets are, and if they are “destroyed” the same way that we saw with At Achrann. With many believing the Jewels of the Old Republic and therefore At Attin are full of treasure, it’s not surprising they would want to stay hidden. As the sole survivor of these nine planets, At Attin may contain all the treasure from the other planets, making it more desirable to find.

At Achrann Has Been Locked In War For Generations

It Is A War-Torn World

Skeleton Crew Kids In Episode 4

After Hayna takes Fern, Wim, KB, and Neel back to their stronghold, it’s made evident that At Achrann has been in conflict for generations; the people simply do not know a different way to live. This is evidenced by Hayna telling Neel he is weak because he hasn’t had to fight for anything. Later, Hayna realizes that Neel’s weakness is also kindness, something she doesn’t seem very familiar with. Hayna also states that she is set to take over as leader of the Troik when her father dies, indicating that At Achrann doesn’t expect to find peace anytime soon.

SM-33 also tells Jod Na Nawood that he and his captain had to sneak past the different warriors of At Achrann when they went to the fallen sanctum. SM-33 and his old captain were there witnessing the war-torn state of At Achrann just before the Onyx Cinder charted a course to At Attin, which could have been long before the events of Skeleton Crew. It still hasn’t been revealed how long the Onyx Cinder and SM-33 were hidden on At Attin before being found by the kids, but it was enough time for the greenery to grow on the ship.

Jod Na Nawood has also been confirmed to go by the names Captain Silvo and Crimson Jack.

The Planet At Achrann Is A Symbol Of What’s Happened In The Galaxy

It’s a Metaphor for the Skywalker Saga

The Star Wars galaxy wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining without the constant conflict that affects the galaxy. However, over the multiple generations audiences have seen during the course of the Skywalker saga, as well as the fall of the Jedi Order, each new generation inherits the last one’s wars and conflicts. This can be seen with the Rebel Alliance taking on the burden after the Clone Wars, and the Resistance taking on the burden of the Rebel Alliance in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Not only this, but each new generation has also become more and more weakened by the scars of the past. This has been seen with the Jedi, and how they failed to learn from the previous generation’s mistakes. At Achrann is just like that, but on a much smaller scale. This can be seen with the children of At Achrann being turned into child soldiers and being expected to uphold and carry on the fight.

While
Skeleton Crew
episode 4 seemingly leaves audiences with the hope that Hayna will lead her people in a direction of kindness, it’s hard to imagine old habits of indoctrination will allow that to happen.

This weakening can also be seen with the children that Neel gives his meal. The young children are clearly hungry and scared, but because At Achrann sees their children as adults, they are forced to inherit traits from the older generation without questioning why things have to be that way. While Skeleton Crew episode 4 seemingly leaves audiences with the hope that Hayna will lead her people in a direction of kindness, it’s hard to imagine old habits of indoctrination will allow that to happen.

The Name Of At Achrann Shows Just How Dark Star Wars Really Is

The Planet’s Name Likely Derives From Ancient Greek Mythology

While the name At Achrann so far has no bigger meaning in-universe, in the real world, the word “Achrann” likely derives from the word Acheronin ancient Greek mythology. The word means pain or river of woe, and it is quite literally the name of the river of Hades and the Underworld. With this in mind, it’s not surprising that At Achrann is a dark and seemingly hopeless place.

It’s unclear what else audiences will see of At Achrann, but Star Wars certainly means for At Achrann to be a stark contrast to At Attin. The clean suburbia compared to the post-apocalyptic and war-torn images of At Achrann show just how different these planets are, despite seemingly both being part of the Jewels of the Old Republic. Hopefully, Skeleton Crew provides answers as to what happened to cause a war that spans multiple generations on At Achrann.
