Southern Charm matriarch Patricia Altschul shared some sad news about her former butler Michael Kelcourse, revealing on Instagram earlier this week that he recently suffered another stroke.
“I am very sad to share that Michael has had another stroke,” Altschul wrote in the caption. “I am told that while he cannot read messages on his phone or Instagram, he can receive cards.”
Altschul encouraged Southern Charm fans to send Kelcourse cards to his assisted living facility in Florida to help him celebrate his upcoming birthday on Oct. 13.
“We are sure he would love to receive your birthday and well wishes,” she added in her caption. “I know he means so much to so many of you.”
Kelcourse — who was best known for making a perfect martini during his Southern Charm tenure — previously suffered an acute spinal cord stroke in 2021, which left him paralyzed from the chest down, Altschul revealed to People at BravoCon 2022.
The socialite also remembered how much Kelcourse loved Southern Charm and its fans. “He used to stand out in the front of my house making up chores to do because I have fans around my house all the time. He loved to give garden tours and take pictures,” she told the outlet.
While Kelcourse was a Southern Charm staple for many years, he hasn’t been in the show since relocating to Sarasota, FL following his health issues. However, the beloved former butler made a brief cameo in Season 9 when Altschul and her son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, FaceTimed him.
Kelcourse revealed during the call that he was “doing great” and had “no complaints,” per BravoTV.
Southern Charm is currently streaming on Peacock.
