Sparking Zero! DLC (So Far)

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has proven to be the Dragon Ball arena fighter everyone had hoped it would be, serving up epic action on a grand scale and a ridiculously huge roster to boot. Of course, players are getting their teeth stuck into each and every character to see how they all play, but that isn’t stopping them from dreaming ahead and thinking about which of the few remaining characters is yet to be added. Fortunately, like all good Dragon Ball games, there’s DLC on its way, and it’s looking to add a lot of new content.

Of course, players already have the huge Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero roster to unlock, with 182 characters to choose from. These will surely keep fans busy for quite a while, but Bandai Namco has no plans to stop there. There are a number of DLC packs on the way which will add additional characters and more to the game, with a handful of details surrounding the upcoming DLC having already been announced.

Character Roster & New Content

The Season Pass Promises Even More Characters

Bandai Namco and developer Spike Chunsoft have already unveiled a Season Pass for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, which gave players early access to the game as well as a handful of DLC packs. These will contain more than 20 characters, according to Bandai Namco’s official Sparking! Zero site, from both Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Dragon Ball DAIMA. These are the main DLC packs that are coming to the game, although additional ones, potentially featuring cosmetics and costumes for the already existing characters, will likely be released alongside them.

Additionally, two characters have already been announced for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero as DLC. These are Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, who are both from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and will be released first before any of the other characters. However, other than them, there is no information regarding which characters may be coming to the game, as Spike Chunsoft has remained tight-lipped about the DLC. With these two characters and the remaining 20+ coming in the DLC, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’s roster will balloon to over 200, potentially solidifying it as the best Dragon Ball game of all time.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is already popular among fans of the franchise but one new mechanic is impressing everyone with its cinematic flair.

Of course, it is important to note that alternate versions of the same character are considered individual fighters in the roster. This means that there is a chance future DLC will simply introduce a number of alternate versions as opposed to completely new characters. Spike Chunsoft and Bandai Namco are likely to announce the new fighters coming to Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero closer to their release either via posts to their respective social media accounts or via flashy trailers like they did for the current roster of fighters.

So far, Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft are yet to announce when DLC for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will drop. However, it is likely that the first piece of DLC will drop relatively soon, although fans shouldn’t expect it to be new characters. Dragon Ball games typically get a lot of cosmetic add-ons that add new costumes to various characters, and it’s likely that the first wave of these will begin rolling out soon in order to inject the game with more content as soon as possible.

Sparking Episodes are alternate storylines you can unlock in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero that changes events, but only when you make certain choices.

However, while there hasn’t been any confirmation on the exact date that the DLC will be released, there have been some major leaks about Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero‘s DLC. It has been uncovered via Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’s Steam page that the first DLC coming to the game is called the Martial Arts Pack. However, other than its name, there haven’t been any additional details surrounding it.

It could introduce some classic
Dragon Ball
content.

There’s a very good chance that this piece of DLC will simply be a costume pack, adding some new cosmetic items to the game and little else. However, some fans have speculated that it could introduce some classic Dragon Ball content, although that’s debatable. New characters launching this early in the game’s lifetime seems incredibly unlikely, especially considering the already enormous roster. Spike Chunsoft is likely to rest on its laurels for a while, adding cosmetics and more until players get bored with the whopping 180+ characters already present.

Sparking! Zero Needs Some Fixes First

There Are Major Issues With The AI & Combat Difficulty

While everyone is definitely excited for the future DLC, and rightfully so, there are still some major issues to be fixed in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero before any new characters are added. Fans have already expressed issues with Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’s combat difficulty, with many finding particular fights to be overly challenging, and even the AI to be ridiculously punishing at times. It’s clear that some form of rebalancing is needed in order to make it more approachable, especially to those who are experiencing a Dragon Ball game for the first time.

Additionally, there are key issues with the AI, namely that it isn’t very good sometimes. While in moments it can be almost too skilled, there are several occasions where it just does nothing, deciding to tap out of the fight and stand still, letting the player beat them up relentlessly. The AI also has a tendency to go out of bounds for no reason, go out of a transformation before immediately transforming again, and do so many other bizarre actions that make the player question their own sanity.

These aren’t strictly game-breaking bugs, but, like all games,
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
needs a handful of patches to improve things before it can justify charging players for more content.

Fortunately, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is a largely flawless game and one that won’t require too many patches to become completely stable. Once it’s sorted out, fans will be able to enjoy the plethora of DLC coming their way, with all the extra fighters and cosmetic items to help keep it feeling consistently fresh. There’s a lot to love about Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, and more DLC will only help make it the ultimate Dragon Ball experience.
