And as seen in the final trailer for the film, “Presence” is a unique twist on the haunted house horror subgenre. A family moves into a new home and begins to believe that they’re being haunted by a, wait for it… presence. Even though that sounds like the premise of a million horror movies, what separates “Presence” from the rest is that the film is told through the spirit’s point of view, ethereally floating around the house.

The film stars Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, West Mulholland, and Julia Fox. As mentioned, the film is directed by Steven Soderbergh. Perhaps more interesting than that is the fact that “Presence” is written by David Koepp, who is best known for writing films such as “Jurassic Park,” “Carlito’s Way,” “Panic Room,” and “War of the Worlds.” He and Soderbergh must have hit it off, as Koepp is also the writer of the filmmaker’s second 2025 film, “Black Bag.”
