Superfan Showcases Star Trek’s Most Iconic Ships, Perfectly Rebuilt In Starfield

Watching superfans build ships may just be one of the best parts of Starfield, especially when those same creators highlight their designs in a flashy demonstration video. When it comes to bringing some of sci-fi’s most iconic spaceships to Bethesda’s massive RPG, one of the most popular franchises to draw from is Star Trek. The monolithic series has provided fans with decades of iconic vessels, many of which have appeared in licensed video games, but when they’re used in Starfield, they just look even more impressive.

In a video posted to YouTube, creator Kris Thompson shared a demo reel of the various Star Trek ships they’ve built in Starfield: The footage features instantly recognizable cruisers like the USS Enterprise, USS Enterprise-E, USS Thunderchild, USS Mitchell, USS Defiant, USS Stargazer, and even the SS Enterprise (NX-01).

The video puts all the ships through their paces, showing off how they fly amongst the stars, shoot down enemies, and evade interstellar obstacles. Thompson quips that they believe Starfield to be the best Star Trek game on the market and after watching their ships in action, it’s easy to agree with the opinion.

Building Better Ships In Starfield

All It Takes Is Some Creative… And Some Mods

Starfield may not be the open-world sci-fi RPG Fallout and Elder Scrolls were hoping for but one aspect everyone agrees is a homerun is the game’s ship-building system. Providing players with modular pieces that can be stitched together to create unique and outlandish vehicles was easily Bethesda’s best decision, especially when the studio went a step further by adding hundreds of unique parts with different stats. From release day, the Starfield community hasn’t shied away from sharing their builds, especially those that bring pop culture to the game.

While Starfield‘s ship-building system is impressive in its scope, sometimes a little help is needed. Thompson notes that to authentically recreate the Star Trek vessels they used “plenty” of mods to add new parts and change the way pieces can interact. Players who aren’t able to mod the game may find this disappointing, but now that Bethesda has introduced the Creation Kit, installing custom add-ons has never been easier.

Does Starfield Need More Ship Parts?

Can’t Get Enough Of A Good Thing

Now that Starfield has been out for over a year, fans are hoping that Bethesda has plans to further expand on the game’s ships. Much to the community’s dismay, the recently-released Shattered Space DLC didn’t add any new parts, prompting many to request that the studio include more in a future update. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but it doesn’t take much to imagine Bethesda dropping a massive content patch dedicated purely to expanding the ship-building system.
